1. I want to make sure these products are safe on the various surfaces of my car — how can I find out for sure?

While our products are safe for most of your car’s surfaces, it’s smart to be sure before you begin using a product. Visit the individual product pages for usage instructions.

2. How can I protect my dashboard from fading and cracking?

The best protection comes from using a protectant every time you wash your car. Son of a Gun!® Protectant helps guard against the harmful effects of ozone by protecting against cracking of your tires and protects against damaging UV rays by preventing fading of your dash.

3. How do I avoid getting Son of a Gun!® Protectant on my windows and windshield when I'm protecting my car’s interior?

To avoid over-spray of Son of a Gun!® Protectant onto your glass, spray the protectant directly onto a cloth (cotton and terry cloth work best) and wipe.

4. Can I use Son of a Gun!® Protectants on paint?

Son of a Gun!® Protectant is not designed for use on paint. Although the product will not harm your car’s paint finish, it may leave a dull or streaky appearance.

5. Can I use Son of a Gun!® Protectants on vinyl; including convertible tops, covers and seats?

Son of a Gun!® Protectants are ideal for vinyl, and can help to prevent discoloration and fading on these surfaces. However, these products are not recommended for canvas or other fabric.

6. What are the ingredients in Son of a Gun!® Protectants? Do they include silicone, alcohol, ultraviolet inhibitors and petroleum distillates?

Son of a Gun!® Protectant contains water-based silicone emulsions, surfactants, and ultraviolet light inhibitors, humectants, dispersants and gloss enhancers.

7. What is the shelf life of Son of a Gun!® Protectant?

The shelf life of Son of a Gun!® Protectant is three to five years.

8. Can I use Son of a Gun!® Protectant products on my dashboard; will it cause cracking?

Son of a Gun!® Protectant products are safe to use on your car’s dashboard, and will not cause cracking. In fact, Son of a Gun!® Protectant products are specially formulated to guard against UV damage (like cracking and discoloration).

9. Can I use Son of a Gun!® Protectant Products on my tires; including whitewall, motorcycle and bicycle?

Son of a Gun!® Protectant Products are ideal for protecting, shining and cleaning your car tires. Just spray onto surface, let penetrate and wipe off for a great shine and long-lasting protection. However, these products should not be used on cycle tires due to slipperiness.

10. Can I use Son of a Gun!® Protectant on rubber?

Yes. Son of a Gun!® Protectant products are specially designed to protect, clean and shine rubber surfaces. Using Son of a Gun!® Protectant regularly is an easy way to help protect your rubber surfaces from cracking, UV damage, fading or discoloration.

11. Can I use Son of a Gun!® Protectant on household surfaces?

Although Son of a Gun!® Protectant is generally used to clean, protect and shine your car, you can use this product on several household surfaces, including vinyl, rubber, and hard colored plastic surfaces. Test first in an inconspicuous area, and make sure that you avoid using it on surfaces where slipperiness may be a problem

12. What are the ingredients in Son of a Gun!® Tire products? Do they contain silicone, alcohol or petroleum distillates?

Son of a Gun!® One Step Tire Care contains silicones and a propellant.

13. How long do Son of a Gun!® Tire products take to dry on tires?

Depending on the product, after applying, you can expect Son of a Gun!® Tire products to take from approximately 10 to 15 minutes to thoroughly dry. Please check the package for specific drying information.

14. Can I use Son of a Gun!® Tire Products on fiberglass or patio furniture?

While some Son of a Gun!® products can be used on other household surfaces, we do not recommend using Son of a Gun!® Tire Products on fiberglass or patio furniture. These products are specially formulated for tires.
