It's a big problem. Most Americans don't know jack about maintaining a car.
We're not talking about rebuilding an engine or anything. We're talking the basics—the knuckle-headed basics that, a generation ago, even your aunt could do.
And now none of us can.
Your tire blows. Do you know how to change it? Your brake light pops. Can you replace the bulb? When you're out of washer fluid, can you top it off? Heck, do you even know which button to press to open the hood?
The over-convenient truth is that we’re a nation that’s been spoiled from over-convenience. Something goes wrong, we hold up our hands and squeal. Something needs fixing, we call someone—or else it doesn't get fixed. It's lazy. It's incompetent. It's pathetic. And it's embarrassing. And what's worse, there's no one to point the finger at because we all do it.
We're all “THAT GUY.”
